Before I go on and on about the trip, let me give you a short introduction about the 2 person next to me. The one on the left is the tour guide, Dara. He has been a tour guide for almost 10 years now and he speaks decent english on top of that he shares with me not just the history of those temples but also the culture and lifestyle in Cambodia now. The guy on my right is the driver, Reti. He is very friendly guy that always carry a big smile with him. This dude is only 23 and he is married for a year now. That means he was married at the age of 22. Oh man, I am turning 22 soon and I don’t even have a gf. Girls, a little help please?

Float Village
The first stop wasn’t visiting any temples. It was a boat ride at the Float Village. It is monsoon season now and it was raining pretty badly few days before I arrived. The water level was high and the timing was right to have a ride around the lake to have a look at the lifestyle of the Float village.

Dscn2215

These are some of the houses they live in. Yes, they are very poor.

Dscn2228

but that didn’t stop the kids from having fun

Dscn2221

you think it is just some leaves? Not quite the case. These are actually trees top. This is how high the water level was.
Dscn2224

Very cute right? They commute around with that but in reality they try to get close to the visitor’s boat and beg for money.

Phnom Bakheng
Next stop is Phnom Bakheng. The word Phnom means mountain so this required a bit of walking and climbing. After a walk for about 10 minutes to the bottom of the temple, this is what lies infront of me

Dscn2230

It may look simple from the picture but it ain’t easy to get up there. The steps are not very friendly. Some damaged, some too narrow and that is why you see some of them walking sideway to get up

But the climb was very rewarding. Phnom Bakheng is a very good spot for sunsets but before getting any sunset I got myself a sneaked preview of Angkor Wat from far

Dsc06738

That was pretty much it for Day 1. Afternoon at the Float Village and in the evening at Phnom Bakheng for sunset. Just before I end my Day 1 entry, here is 2 pictures which I think is pretty nicely taken on the sunset.

So which is better? I personally prefer the bottom one. See you later till I update you on Day 2. Cheers!

A trip to Siem Reap

September 7th, 2006 by lihxiang

Over the last 4 days I was at Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was there with my parents and it was a trip money well spent. The place was really beautiful and the cambodians are really friendly people.Eventhough I have a pair of tired legs, a dead body but there is a very fresh mind wanting to share some stories. To begin with let me tell you how I felt about Airasia and the LCC terminal.

I have to admit flying with Airasia is not bad at all. I don’t know if I am lucky or this is the way things are done in Airasia but they are pretty good. Checking in at LCC terminal was simple, far less queue than KLIA and prettier stewardess than MAS too so no complain on that.

Dscn2201_1

Jom, naik kapalterbang!

This is really the way we went on board. Unlike MAS thru KLIA, Airasia is here to cut cost and at LCC terminal you have to walk to the plane under the sun. I am not sure if the other passengers like it but personally I don’t hate it. It is kinda cool to be checking out the plane that you are gonna fly.

Dscn2207

This is for the United fan…

Anyhow the flight was on time. It was a smooth ride to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Dscn2212_1

Again this is the way we came down because Airasia is trying to save cost. It really feels like we are some kinda VIP walking down and there are ppl from Cambodia at the bottom to greet us.

Finally I am at Siem Reap. To be continued…

speechless…

I just saw a really shocking news. One of the weirdest transfer since I started watching football. It make no sense to me how did it happen. I still can’t believe it. When Tevez and Mascherano were looking for a move to EPL. I was thinking yeah this can be it. No Hargreaves or Senna, Utd can get Mascherano which is in fact a better option. When they loaned young Rossi out, I was thinking okay maybe SAF was thinking of getting Tevez as well. I don’t mind having 2 Rooneys at all. If Chelsea can have 2 Lampards. We can have 2 Rooneys as well. Of all the teams, they both have joined West Ham Utd. No disrecpect but since when they are so rich? And why would 2 world cup stars join a club that is not even competing in Champs league?

Football related entry again? I know I am spending way too much time on football lately. I am just surprised to hear the news. Now I am gonna go to bed and hope it was just a weird dream. Hopefully when I wake up I get to see that it was unreal and that they have joined Man Utd not West ham Utd. Good night!

Gameweek 1

August 21st, 2006 by lihxiang

Game week 1 is finally over. I must admit fantasy league football is pretty fun. I gotta say thank you to my mate jun sern for this wonderful online game. I care more for EPL than I used to and I am losing focus. Did some TABOO things Man Utd fans never do

I was cheering for more than 1 team

I visited Liverpool’s website to check if one of my player carragher is fit for the next match

And the worst things of all was probably the jump for joy when john terry scored a header goal and gave out high 5 to my friends that have terry in the team as well

This game is haunted man. At one point I was hoping Sheva to score. Devil fans only wish for 2 things Utd to win and Chelsea to lose(since they’re the strongest atm). And there I was hoping Sheva to score? This is terrifying, it has blinded me.

So this is what i am gonna do to solve this conflict of interest:
1. I’ve told myself Man Utd will always come before fantasy league(even if this means I will be dead last)

2. Sell all my chelsea players. After Rooney’s suspension I will sell Sheva off and replace him with Rooney. Then I can pray for Rooney’s goals, jump for joy and give out high 5 with my friend! (can i just keep Terry?)

Now, I know I am not the only one suffering from this problem. You guyz better not let me see you jump for joy over Terry’s or anyone else’s goals besides United goals! Or else I will KILL YOU! Fine may be I won’t kill you but hey try to stay focus ok.Hehe! I wanna see those glory days of Utd again. Glory glory to my Man Utd!!

Chan Seng Loong ?

August 16th, 2006 by lihxiang

okay so I just got back from a drinking session. We were talking about movies, movie stars and stuff. We were discussing about Stephen chow’s movies, how funny they were and how we should get together and have Stephen chow’s movie marathon.

We went on talking about action movies like Dragon Tiger Gate and according to Seow Yen. The story was from a comic book that is why they were given special powers. Then we moved to action movie stars like Jet Li and Jackie Chan, and how successful they are in Hollywood. Tiba-tiba this question came up from Chee Foong.

‘EH WHAT IS JACKIE CHAN’S FULL NAME?’ I never think of that before to be honest and at that very moment my best guess was Jackie Chan Loong. Which sounded quite funny but Chee Foong had the last say. He replied ‘isn’t it Chan Seng Loong?’ After that the rest of us were just laughing non-stop for awhile. I seriously wonder what is his full english name.

And that my friend is why Chan Seng Loong earned its spot at CF’s msn nick as word of the day!

I wasn’t drunk

August 9th, 2006 by lihxiang

First of all, happy birthday Yit Chuan. I really hope you like your presents from us. Secondly, I’m really sorry if I stole your thunder or your moment tonight. I guess I was a little too noisy talking and laughing. But I must remind you all that I wasn’t drunk. All I had were teh o ais and teh o ais limau and they have no alcohol content.

After looking back at what happened I suppose I am really happy today. It has been awhile now since the last time we needed 3 tables to accomodate all of us. The return of Weng Yew, Chong and Jeng Yean kinda helped us get back a little to the good old days. I guess that felt great. A bunch of la sallians just sitting around and chatting. Those that are still oversea don’t be jealous. When you guyz return we can have drinking session with more tables. The more the merrier.

Some of my friends have been asking what is ‘naik kereta’. A terms we used a lot lately and the way I interpret it is more or less like got cheated. When you have already entered ones car and you are trapped.

Just the other day when I was putting in petrol into my car, a brand new Satria Neo was next to my car. So when the driver walked back from the counter I thought I will get some feedback from the owner about the car.I went ahead and asked if the car is nice and comfortable? He replied it is pretty good and ask if I wanna try. I was thinking wow, this guy is really friendly. But I said it is ok I don’t wanna try. I then asked how he get the car so quick, I thought there is wait for a month or so. He said no need. In fact his company has a car for sale right now and asked if I am interested. A  1.6 manual, dark blue and full specs. He then gave me his namecard and invited me to visit a proton showroom. I knew I’ve ‘naik kereta’. I replied I will drop by if I am interested and quickly drove away. The END.

wtf?!

August 6th, 2006 by lihxiang

After 6 days of classes I should be getting some rest now but instead I am gonna blog about this weird lady I met on friday night. Attending classes in KL always amazed me. Even though I was never once late for class I never really get to sit at the front row. Well not that I want to and they were always occupied by people, files, folders, notes, pencil cases and sometimes to the extend just a ruler or pen.

That leaves me with just the back row. That is fine for me so long I can see and listen to lecture. There was no different on Friday night. Class starts at 6.15 pm but I got there at 6 and I was sitting at one of the back row. There was this lady coming in late and suddenly she walked to the back row and sat next to me. Of all places she chose next to me fine. Moments later she started eating her dinner fried mee. It’s pretty common I suppose for the part time student to eat dinner in class. They probably just came straight from work but it is a little disturbing and tempting! After finishing her fried mee, she took out a packet of twisties. The chewing sounds were beginning to get on my nerves but I kept my cool. I tried not to get distracted over this and pay attention.

Finally she is done eating fried mee and twisties. You thought it is gonna be quiet for awhile but no. She took her hp and call ppl. I don’t know what it was about but I thought I heard something about she is in class. Now I really donno why would you call someone to do that plus I think it is really disrespectful to do that during lecture. It is okay! Lih Xiang doesn’t scold ppl. TAHAN TAHAN. After her hp conversation, it was peace and quiet at last. I was in shocked after 15 mins there was no sound coming from her. I took a look and she was fast asleep.

Towards the end of the lecture. It was coming to 930 and my hp was ringing like mad. Got calls from all my friends to know what is the plan and to find out if I am going but then I noticed she was giving me one kinda starred. As if I was disturbing her big time. WTF?!

Football fever

July 18th, 2006 by lihxiang

The Pd trip was great. It was affordable and real run. On top of that, I received some really positive note. I no longer snore! I don’t know if this is permanent but I am glad. Lim Cheong might be one of those fella that find this hard to believe. When he first arrived Leeds he spent almost a month staying in my room and another 2 weeks when Seow Yen visited Leeds. He was always telling me how loud I was like 747. Ha ha. Hopefully it won’t happen and disturb anyone in the future when we are out on a trip.

World cup has ended for about a week now. I thought the football fever will just end here till end of Aug when EPL starts. BUT NO! Fantasy football starts now. Just a few days ago I received an invitation from Jun Sern to play this fantasy league. To make it more interesting, I have asked a few of them to join aswell and the feedbacks were great.

Right about now, there is already 9 ppl in the league. Of which 7 are contributed from us. Tze Loong, Chin Yee, Prasnth, Weng Yew, Thye Sim, Chee Foong and myself have all registered for a team. And if you are not in yet, you might wanna consider joining in the fun. Just drop me a msg and I will send you the details.

It is fun? I have no idea. This is only my first time playing but I think this is quite a healthy game. There is also a huge interest on football among many of us. So yes, I am very looking forward to the start of a brand new season. My ultimate aim this time around is not to be last. Hopefully my ‘players’ will stay healthy and not get injured.

Beside fantasy league, I have been playing a lot of futsal and I’m getting some minor injuries along the way. Hurt my toe last Monday, my ankle last Saturday and my knee just yesterday. Still having fever…

Port Dickson’ 06

July 14th, 2006 by lihxiang

Finally got myself a copy of the pictures from Port Dickson. Those of you that haven’t received the pictures just hang in there. There are 2 dvdr labelled with Han and Nin are being passed around and you will get them soon. This time majority of the pictures are from YC. He was the one taking most of the pictures. Thanks for the effort, really good pictures!

Anyway the trip was a blast. It was affortable, comfortable, relax and really really fun! I’ll write less and let the pictures do the talking.

What we did the most?

              Eating2

That’s right it was none other than eating. We had a couple as our caretakers and we were served 5 times a day.

Eating_1

What we did the least?

                    Sleep1

Yeah it’s sleep. We were playing at the daytime and world cup and the nighttime.

-THE END-

Back to college..

July 12th, 2006 by lihxiang

Not good enough last term means another 6 months again. I register for classes with FTMS and I am pretty alright with the college. The class size is not too big and the lecturers are fine. The only problem is the guard. He has something against me. So far only 2 days of lectures and I have been given 2 warnings from him already.

On the first day, I wore a t-shirt , a jeans and a pair of slipper. Here comes trouble. Hey, NO SLIPPER! ok fine no slipper.

The next day, I wore a polo tee, a 3 quarter short and a pair of adidas shoe. I kena again! Hey, NO SHORTS! -_- Just 2 days and 2 warnings?? OMG..What is next? NO LOOKING GOOD?

Anyway just a short update this time around. I am gonna get some pictures from Yit Chuan real soon for the trip to Port Dickson last weekend and hopefully I will be able to post it up on the next entry.

I would also like to wish my friend Lim Cheong a Happy Belated Birthday! He is not just my good friend but he is also my housemate for a good 6 mths. Thanks for all the good times. Time really files, last year this time around I was only writing my 2nd entry and now a year has passed. Hey mate, you enjoy yourself in Leeds and complete ACCA as soon as possible. Take care and good health. Send my regards to the rest of them in Leeds as well. Cheers!
